Course description
An observational drawing and painting class for adults (18+), this unique course invites you to explore the artistic possibilities of Central London. We will begin each session drawing en plein air (outdoors) at various iconic locations in London, many along the banks of the Thames. Then students will make paintings from their drawn studies. Emphasis will be on looking as an essential part of drawing and will include drawing study visits of great works of art at London museums such as the National Gallery and Tate.
Lessons will focus on developing keen observational skills and capturing the essence of our subject – whether it be an iconic cityscape or a great work of art. Following our outdoor sessions, students will develop these drawing studies into resolved paintings, using their chosen medium with the help of professional guidance from an experienced tutor. Perfect for artists looking to enhance their drawing skills, outdoor sketching and studio painting practices.
